Dear Students and Parents,
Welcome to our art page! Please feel free and take time to explore this site. The objective of the art program here at Algonquin Middle School is to enrich all students’ lives. Students will be able to build a solid foundation of artistic skills that will help them develop and find their own creative potential and learn how art connects to their life. We will be actively exercising our imaginations this year as we work with a variety of art media and methods as well as considering movements in art history and individual artists. We will also be considering the many different ways to look at and understand art. Students will become familiar with terms and definitions related to art, thus increasing their vocabulary and ability to speak about art and the world around them. Talent is not a requirement; effort is. Each student will be responsible for being fully engaged in each activity. This includes class discussions and projects. Grades will be given on how each student follows the objective of a given assignment and uses principles acquired in class. Planning, and craftsmanship are major considerations too. We will move quickly in order to fit as much as we can into our short nine week term. Sometimes projects may be taken home for completion, or additional work time may be arranged after school.
It is my desire to make art an enjoyable and educational experience. I will be there to help each student to progress and succeed in every way I can. If you have any questions or concerns feel free to contact me.
It is a pleasure to welcome everyone,
Tana Allen
